Four Years Ago

Here’s a little poem to mark Valentine’s Day. Enjoy!

Four years ago, we sat by the brook,

And did nothing, but quietly read a book,

While the birds in the adjacent tree gave us stern looks.

Eight years hence, a lot of things have changed,

I’ll admit a lot of it does not make any sense,

We seem to have grown, yet it’s difficult to tell the difference,

Sixteen years hence, you have grown old,

And the children keep asking for another story to be told,

And all those years ago, I gave you my heart,

And it’s yours, even if Death do us part

Happily Ever After?

Ankur has returned, and this time it's a poem! Give it a read below

Sitting on the terrace, watching the blonde sun dive,
Into the dingy pool of the city,
As I wait for my superpower to arrive,
Killing time with a cup of tea.

To zip into the past, uproot the weeds of pain,
The brambles that choke my creative thoughts,
To sow the seeds of a luxuriant, noble forest
Rampant in the plains of my present mind;

Or flash into the spectacular future,
To build gleaming cities of gold,
With beautiful, mysterious women sunbathing
In dark glasses on the soft beach sand.

I wait with grim brow, marshaling my powers,
Willing them to grow, intent and furious,
While the laughing blonde Sun pirouetted through the air,
Flirting in the arms of the humming breeze,

The unthinking birds flew back to their homes,
While the graying clouds slumbered to rest;
And all the while it was just stupid me,
Sinking in my past, and leaping to my future.

Meet Me at the Gallows

Days have slipped by unnoticed,

There have been some changes,

We are at the walls now of their ancient dwelling,

The door is being swept off it’s hinges,

Last time we were afraid, but today there is no fear

Our foes, they have waited and their time has drawn near,

Their scouts speak uncertainty, swiftly they are slain,

It’s time to assemble near that old hill again,

Onward we will march, we will take what is ours,

Meet me at the Gallows, of Gundslag Tower,

And help my hungry blade, bring it a head to devour

Random Babbling

Haven’t posted in a while here, mainly due to health reasons and exams. But, just so no one worries here’s a bit of Bilge.
Of late, a number of songs have been playing in my head. Many of you know that music is my Hashish, so you won’t be surprised by this. I’m a big fan of good ol’ rock and hence as you might have guessed half the songs are by folks like Led Zep, Nirvana, Guns and Roses or U2; though many could argue that U2 isn’t rock. But Dire Straits is a different story.
Nothing like a sweet little guitar riff to calm ye down. Give this a listen if you haven’t
Her hair reminds me of a warm safe place, where as a child I’d hide
And pray for the thunder and the rain to quietly pass me by
And that song my friends is called “Sweet Child o Mine”

Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)

First off a very Happy New Year to everyone who stumbles upon this in the near future. I hope it’s a tad better than last year and has it’s good moments!

I’m kind of glad that 2012 had bid us adieu to be honest. It was becoming a bit lethargic especially towards the end. Looking back though it’s been a hell of a year, though it started badly.

In spite of having dropped out this year, I’m happy. I managed to get some of my stupid problems out of my hair, I’ve gotten my confidence back and I can;t wait to get into college. Let’s not forget the Poets of the Fall concert or those friends I made that night! I have subsequently latched onto them like a leech and they’re just as crazy as me. Hey guys, if you end up reading this (which in all probability you will) I hope you’ll never let me hear the end of this, if you know what I mean!

Also I am now officially an adult. That’s gonna take some getting used to though. Ah well, to wrap up, so long 2012 and thanks for all the fish.

Hello 2013 and hopefully I can scream “Welcome to College, you lunatic!” in around 5 months.

Enough is Enough

This is just a guy, like a lot of people saying enough is enough. I for one will NOT stand for this

The newspapers these days are starting to resemble horror stories. The only problem is they are not stories they are real. Those monsters your mother told you about when you were a child are real and they are running loose. For those of you wondering, I am referring to the rape cases that are taking place in this country.

Just day before yesterday a few friends came over from the other side of Kolkata and we hung out. They left my house at around 7.30 in the evening. One of them was a girl and her phone had been buzzing with calls from her home for quite a while. She reached home OK but my other friend had an encounter with a pickpocket and got home with a bleeding hand.

Such incidents are becoming common these days, what with the police turning a blind eye to the rising crime rate. It’s almost as if they are non-existent! I can see no other reason for the headlines of late. A gang rape here, a triple murder here and some father forcing himself on his 12 year old daughter. What the hell are we coming to?

Then there’s the victim. Quite often, if the law is to be believed that is, it’s her own fault she got raped. Apparently, women should pay attention to the tightness of their jeans in order to avoid being raped. I have never heard something more ridiculous in my life. The fact of the matter is that society needs to teach it’s sons to behave instead of teaching it’s daughters how to dress. Furthermore, someone who has raped a woman should be castrated and left with the victim’s family for half an hour. The remains can then be burnt in public. Such animals, and I insult animals by calling these lowlifes that have no place in society or in the world today.

Someone needs to tell our gracious government that just because some one has money, it doesn't give him the right to do whatever the hell he wants to. A set of laws (though they are the biggest farce in this country) are there to keep us safe, not to make us feel threatened and insecure every time we step out of our houses.

This has gone on for long enough, and it needs to STOP. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. If you can’t do it, we will find someone who can.

But you know what people? Nothing will happen, because at the end of the day, I am just a voice, in a sea of voices, screaming to be heard.  Will we ever be heard?

I’m not signing this post, because this isn't Bilge. It’s a very serious, very ugly side of society that has reared it’s head. But, it isn’t a side that can't be obliterated. One simply has to have the gall to do something.

That Bittersweet Tang

A pulse of memory

A new day

Please stay, there’s a lot to see

Or is it just me?

A few secrets, some home truths

Heaven and hell forsooth!

Perhaps the flavour could do with a bang?

Give it some of that bittersweet tang

Breathe in breathe out,

Echo of a dream

Sunshine, rain, happiness and pain

Yesterday gone for a six, tomorrow’s hit and miss

Today has the flavour

That bittersweet tang

Hey y’know I’m meeting the gang,

Could you pack me a bit of that bittersweet tang?
