Why D’ya Dream Wide Awake?

Why d'ya dream wide awake?
When the words that you're speaking
fall on deaf ears?
Why d'ya dream wide awake?
When the world around you is crumbling?
It's never like the film more friend..
Here, you must relinquish your innocence
So answer me..
Why do you dream wide awake?
What do you stand to gain?
By taking up a stand
And what can faith do?
Just remove a symptom..
But the war goes on does it not?
So friend why d'ya dream wide awake?

Feasts with a Practical Twist

Whoa! Is THAT the time? No way you gotta be kidding? Well, cant mooch round can I now..

If you havent guessed yet..IM BACK..! (yes I know that this is another post in the same month..but what the hell..the more the merrier I say..)..onward man! The Bilge awaits..!
So, of late, a lot's happened. For starters, lets go for Friday the 13th of Jan..maths exam..yeah just imagine my luck! So, the paper's over, I get home and have a flaming row with mum, which leads to my phone being confiscated by Dad and me breaking my bed..not to mention the usual scolding..ah well, happens..but will have to curb it now right? (PS..I got the cell back don't worry..will try hanging onto it this time round..)
Two, I got myself hooked to Megadeth and I must reproach myself for having shunned 'em for so long..they are EPIC..! \m/..
I also "converted" an old school diary of mine to my "Unholy Bible" where I pen down lyrics of metal tracks...

Oh I also set a record for staying out for eleven and a half hours coz I had to finish up my practical notebooks...what a pain I know...but what stole the show was the lunches I partook of there (in liberal fashion I assure you people). Imagine if you will, 7 guys seated in formation, eating from the same plate...now that there's called Fraternity! I must not omit to mention that the food was awesome...melt in the mouth chapattis swimming in ghee with two veg..Aha! Gotcha drooling don't I?
And speaking of food, I also attended my uncle's b'day bash...typical Bengali food topped off with ice cream...(not jaggery this time I assure you, chocolate)...but that's not the ONLY thing I did there..not by a long shot..me being me, I came back with an armload of books..the perennial Dracula (a complete one this time, not one fourth like the one in the school), the fourth Skulduggery Pleasant (refer pic below) and Bad Dog's Diary, which I'm raring to read...coz it's written from the POV of a dog, and I love em...

Jeez this is a long one..so time to wrap up..
I'm not gonna be able to post much coz of my upcoming boards and competitives but I will get right back when those are done. Also, I'm more or less through with video games and won't be playing much..prefer music..which is what I'm listening to right now..the song? “Snow” by RHCP if you wanna know..here's a little taste

In between the cover of another perfect wonder
where it's so white as snow
running through the fields where all my tracks will be concealed
and there's nowhere to go..

Sad isn't it? Well that's why I like it...check it out...and permit me to take your leave...

Ciao and all the very best!

Comfortably Numb

So, like I said in some older post, we recently shifted house. Now you KNOW what that means..unpacking.! Just picture this- a room full of boxes, insects and dust and you, a lone soldier armed with just a knife..depressing no? But I found it fun to unpack the things I grew up with and to put them in their places again..maybe I'm used to it and that's why I enjoy it..it is good to change after all!
But this post isn't bout that..and what I've just blabbered was to get you to keep going..so onward..!

While I was unpacking, I came across a book by Enid Blyton entitled Treasure Trove. The reason why it struck a chord was coz it was the first book I ever read..and the first bit of education I had, courtesy my mum. I assure you I wasted no time in triumphantly clearing a section of my bed, casting a furtive glance to ensure that I was alone and then gently slipping into that tome..and it broke my heart to see the state it was in..dust poured out of it and some sort of fungus was stuck to it But, the print was intact and so was the nostalgia...the message on it in mums handwriting, the spex that came the next day and then just slipping into it..gently..and unconsciously letting it lift me higher and make me fly...that's what magic is...how a simple event can turn time back by decades..suddenly I was six again..

Forgive me, I'm ranting..but then again what else can one do? Don't you feel somewhat excited when you find something you thought was gone? As I was reading, my childhood returned..my first spex, the first golguppa I had, sitting n enjoying a cuppa joe that I made meself, the first piece I wrote for the school's mag..those few minutes brought back ALL of that and more..just like Potter's Pensive

Have you guys read "The 3rd Level"? That story's bout an escape..into a world without boundaries, where you can breathe..that’s kind of the feeling I got..I could compare it with Neruda's "Keeping Quiet", just standing and breathing quietly..
And unavoidably, I started to think of the stuff I have lost..the fights, the pens, the assorted books or other meaningless junk and the people..and it created an interstice in me..and I'm trying to fill it by turning to music, or to writing..it's why I'm writing this now..I just lost someone whom I havent met much, but whose memories are "right here" as ET said...
And I’m thinking of Fix You by Coldplay..
“Tears come streaming down your face,
when you lose something you can't replace..”
Only, I want to, but I can't cry...
But perhaps a more appropriate quote is the last para of To Kill a Mockingbird-

Neighbours bring food with death and flowers with sickness and little things in between. Boo was our neighbour. He gave us two soap dolls, a broken watch and chain, a pair of good luck pennies and our lives. But neighbours give in return. We never put back into the tree what we took from it, and it made me sad.”

I dunno why I'm writing this, maybe I too just wanna find the 3rd level of the Grand Central...it's something I can’t explain...forgive me, and permit me to take your leave...

My December

This one's by Linkin Park and is from their album Hybrid Theory..the song's really soft which is what makes it one of my fave tracks...
To start off, I wish all of you a happy new year...have a good one people..and now, without further ado..to the bilge!
Did I ever tell you that winter was my favourite season? Well, it is...I LOVE IT! And why the hell not? The quilts come out, the black coffee flows like water, mums old sweaters are in demand and we all wait for good ol' Santa to go HO HO HO! (Yeah, I'm almost 18, but Santa's Santa people!). Its a season of good cheer and leaves us with the promise of spring and the new year still to come doesn't it now?
This month was also an eye opener for me.. My pre-selection papers came out and they were horrible.. I hadn't cleared ANYTHING..quite serious here...so, I've started to study for once..and to help me, I've raided the library (so to speak) that is our house. We have 3 cupboards full of books ranging from classics to kid's lit..and it's no surprise why I read so much now is it?

So, in addition to studies, I also finished Papillion by Henrì Charriere, King Rat by James Clavell and am reading The Haj by Leon Uris now..

As for music, I started listening to Black Veil Brides recently and am impressed with the guitar work and the vocals. Give em a go guys if you like slightly unconventional rock. I also revisited Black Sabbath and as usual they blew me away..not surprising as Iommi and Ozzy never did disappoint now did they? But, the album that stole the show was undoubtedly Coldplay's Mylo Xyloto. It's perfect in every way and it has to be experienced, I can't explain it's beauty verbally. If you havent heard it yet go out and buy it. I guarantee you'll be hooked. Trust me on that. Unfortunately, my mp3 player's on the blink and some insolent brute of a rat has made a nice dinner of my earphones so I'm listening to them on my cell now. Hope to get that mp3 fixed after the exams.
Well, that about covers my escapades this month and mum's glaring at me from yonder, so I'm gonna wrap this up.

Oh and as always, I'm counting on some comments from your side..hope you liked this post..
And here's a lil extract from “Paradise” from Mylo Xyloto

When she was just a girl
She expected the world
But it flew away from her reach
And she went away into sleep
Dreamed of para para paradise
Para para paradise
Para para paradise
Every time she closed her eyes...

Until next time guys!
May your swords stay sharp!
