Abyss

They call me a hole in the ground,
Or perhaps one that's gnawing away,
At what still remains of your soul,
I have many names,
"Rock-Bottom", "The Blues", "Depression",
Myraid pseudonyms, coined by those guests,
Who paid me a visit, and left,
Some by the same way they came,
Others by rupturing a vital vein,
Still, they choose to blame me for their sins,
Take out their frustrations on my kith and kin,
I hope one day, the people who have spent time here,
Will realize that there's a way out,
All you need to do,
Is look within the Abyss,
And see the Light burning deep within it

A poem I wrote for The Word Affair (TWA) containing the word "Abyss"
