The Library

I still remember the first time

I walked into a library

So many books in one place

Made my heart race

They told me I could take three at a time

And had to return them within two weeks

Then I could take three more

I spent hours in that library

I found a comfortable chair

Sitting in it I read Treasure Island

And The Count of Monte Cristo

Then I grew up

To discover Tolstoy and Hardy

My love affair with books

Continues to this day

Thanks to that library I'd found

So many years ago

And all the books I have read

Have made me wise
