Word on the street is, you and me
Have now become "We"
They've seen us, oh yes they have
Under that old oak tree
We've been there a lot lately haven't we?
The thing they don't seem to get
And, I'm saying this without a tinge of regret
Is that the "We" is actually "You" and "Me" now
Gossip you see, can often be inaccurate,
But in spite of this fallacy, it is
A potent poison, a degenerative disease
One that will cause, among other things,
A severe case of heart burn,
Until, "You" and "Me", will unfortunately
Be left with the ashes,
Of that which was once, "We"
Have now become "We"
They've seen us, oh yes they have
Under that old oak tree
We've been there a lot lately haven't we?
The thing they don't seem to get
And, I'm saying this without a tinge of regret
Is that the "We" is actually "You" and "Me" now
Gossip you see, can often be inaccurate,
But in spite of this fallacy, it is
A potent poison, a degenerative disease
One that will cause, among other things,
A severe case of heart burn,
Until, "You" and "Me", will unfortunately
Be left with the ashes,
Of that which was once, "We"
